Extech, a world leader in test and measurement tools, announced today the launch of the MO53 and MO57 pinless moisture meters. With the option of an integrated sensor (MO53) or an external spherical sensor (MO57), the new moisture meters make it easier to tackle big water and mold remediation jobs, or to rapidly assess moisture content in lumber and building materials--without leaving pin marks.

Extech MO57 Moisture MeterAn essential part of effective water damage restoration is the close monitoring of the drying process to provide customers verification that a property is dried thoroughly. Disaster restoration professionals rely on Extech's new meters for pro-grade moisture detection and measurements as deep as 4" (100mm) while gliding the MO57's external spherical probe along a surface or up to 1" (20mm) with the MO53's integrated sensor.

The MO57's spherical probe design can be used to access deep into corners, under carpets, along ceilings and other difficult to reach locations. The new moisture meters can be used to measure moisture in wood (up to 99.9%) as well as other building materials (MO57: 99.9%; MO53: 56.5%) such as wall board, sheetrock, plaster, mortar, concrete as well as tiles (using the MO57).

The sturdy and compact meters are easy to read with a large display indicating a numerical percentage value and graphic icon indicators to provide an at-a-glance view of low, medium or high moisture. And for quick relative feedback on moisture levels, the meters use an audible beep that increases in frequency as moisture levels increase. While technicians are measuring moisture, a reading can be frozen on the display using the meters' data hold function.

Backed by Extech’s one-year warranty, the MO53 and MO57 come with a 9-volt battery and a wrist strap.
